Announcement

This is my last flea appearance for the next few months. The flea markets and bazaars in Singapore are getting way too lame and saturated. I just feel that the target market is completely wrong for my handmade creations. I will focus more on online sales, despite how shipping can be a total bitch. But we deal, we deal.

I’ve been wanting to sell at MAAD(Market for Artists and Designers) at Red Dot Design Museum, but never do seem to find a good time. So in any case, I will only make physical appearances at MAAD, where it’s a handmade niche market. MAAD Facebook group here.

It’s been an eventful year for me; had lotsa fun making new stuff and new friends. So definitely do look out for more exciting stuff coming from me. I’ll always hope for the best!

The Shopping Trip

I have so much more fun shopping for beads and stones and supplies! And shopping at Sungei Road too! Boycott the malls! Whichever mall you’re at, you’re gonna end up with more or less the same stores. ION Orchard is the biggest bitch among the shopping malls in Singapore.

Anyways, today, I was looking through the gorgeous rack of stones at the supplies store.

Very gorgeous stones! It felt good just standing there admiring the stones. If I had all the money in the world, I would buy off the whole rack! Heck, I’d buy one big-ass geode of crystal!

Love this, but I have no idea what it is. The uncle called it some Chinese name which I can’t remember. I’m researching a little into gemstones, so I hope I find out what this is soon!

Anyways, here is my loot from the store today.

I GOT MY TURQUOISE BEADS! It is almost impulsive. I HAD TO get them. I was reading up about turquoise, looking at pictures in books and looking at more pictures online. I want to hold them. I want to wear them. I want them. I want to sit in a bathtub full of them.

Then I got more pearls, and a bunch of clear teardrop Swarovski crystals. Dang, the crystals are expensive! I’m using them for an exclusive(maybe personal) statement piece that WILL ROCK YOUR COLOURED SOCKS OFF. I am not completely sure what I’m going to do with the turquoise beads, but now that I have them, it makes experimentation much easier.

After my pearl-crystal-gemstone fix, I headed over to Sungei Road! I managed to walk through a couple of times before it rained.

The sun was still shining quite brightly when I was there.

This is a true blue flea market. Gritty and grungy, but filled with treasures. I managed to get a black leather wristlet this time for S$8!

I left abruptly after getting the wristlet. The sky was overcast and I was desperately trying to stop myself from spending anymore money.

The Indian Trinkets Pendants

It’s a good breather for me to focus on anything other than chainmaille, so I’ve been tinkering a lot with the trinkets that I collected. Plus, the suppliers have been REALLY slow with processing my jump ring order.

Very Indian-inspired. A lot of the trinkets that I picked up had that Indian flair to it. These sturdy pieces originally had the little red drops hanging from them, but I decided to introduce a bit of green into the pieces. Adore both pieces! Very vintage, ethnic looking.

The bigger pendant looks like it could use more work, though. Looking a little sparse for me.

It’s fun to re-invent and re-interpret existing pieces! I’m very tempted to go scavenge for more jewellery bits.

The Gold Trinkets Necklace

This bunch of trinkets I got from Sungei Road have been sitting idle for some time now, and today I was inspired!

It was a complete spur-of-the-moment creation. I wanted it to be random, yet maintaining a clear balance and focus. I think I achieved it pretty well. It’s simple from far, but is in fact, far from simple! A lot of details in this piece.

I love the chain detail at the ends! Love the side toggle too. But I’m a little concerned with the contrasting gold and silver. Looks a bit detached. So let’s just find the unity in detachment. Haha!…

Upcoming: FLEASHLIGHTBATTERY by flashlightbatteries

FLEASHLIGHTBATTERY by flashlightbatteries!!!

I miss manning a stall. It’s been 4-5 weeks since my last flea participation. So do swing by and have a look! It’s just opposite Cineleisure Orchard, so it’s definitely very convenient.
